2009 Uni Revue - 'Obama Mia'![]() Obama Mia opened on Friday night (8 May 2009) and the audience enthusiastically showed their appreciation for the slick, fast and funny show. The new format of one 90-minute with no interval was also well received. From the Mercury Review: "This revue is not short of pep, and has it's audience warmly by the throat. It's not perfect - of course they never are - but the giggles far, far outweighs the groans. It's a young company with quite a few familiar faces but their energy and dancing discipline keeps the show high, wide and handsome. The grand finale about American politics, with a dash of Oz, is long but great fun." ![]() ![]() Date - Hobart 8-23 & Launceston 26-30 May, 2009 Location - Theatre Royal (Warning : This production contains adult themes & nudity, or as they say, the obligatory nude flash.) This is a beautifully developed portrait of a man torn between loving and loathing his students. Playing the Brother is James Casey, who recently appeared as Claudius in Old Nick’s 2009 production of Hamlet.![]() This is a powerful one-man show, set in a Christian Brothers classroom in the 1950’s. It is a beautifully developed portrait of a man torn between loving and loathing his students. The Brothers takes us through a day in his classroom, while sharing insights into his past, the reason that he’s a Brother, and what his hopes are for his students. Don’t expect a jovial teacher! His strictness towards his students will flood the memories of the “baby boomers”, while bewildering the “generation x and y” in the audience.
